Actually, the ration card holders were ordered by the government to get e-KYC done, which has now been stopped for the time being. Thereason behind this is being told to be the problems in food grain distribution. Due to e-KYC, the ration dealers were not able to distribute food grains. It is believed that now the e-KYC process will be done online. The ration dealers were instructed by the government to get e-KYC done to verify the ration card holder and the consumers included in it. Under this, it was made mandatory for every consumer included in the ration card to go to the ration shop and put a thumb on the e-POS machine. The ration dealers informed all the ration card holders that food grains will not be given to the consumer without getting e-KYC done. As a result, food grain distribution started getting affected. Food grains could not be distributed to even 50 percent of consumers by the stipulated date. In such a situation, the government postponed e-KYC till further orders.
E-KYC can be done from public service centers
If departmental officers are to be believed, preparations are underway to make the e-KYC process online. Under this, the right of e-KYC can be given to public service centers. Due to this, the ration dealers will not face any problem in food grain distribution. ARO Pankaj Singh of the District Supply Office says that the e-KYC of ration card consumers has been suspended at the government level for the time being. The process of e-KYC will be done again after receiving the next order.
